I-Beam legs support a case made from 1" thick "engineered" lumber. Straight from the lumberyard, it isn't terribly attractive. But, rip it into strips, flip it 90 degrees and re-laminate it into a panel, and it looks awesome. It's very unique. An almost automatic response when someone sees it is: "Wow, that is cool....WTF is it?"
It looks a little to me like dried wheat stalks that have been compressed into a thick sheet. I love the look but the construction process is very labor intensive. The doors are mounted on fully adjustable Blum hinges. The single drawer is mounted on a pair of black full extension ball bearing drawer guides. The door handles are seasoned cast iron. Ring pulls are steel. Door glass is wire mesh safety glass.
This is a very heavy cabinet.
